Health and Safety Event at Carib Cement Co.
JET participated in Carib Cement Company's "Health, Safety and Environment Day" on June 16th. JET presented poster boards on 'Clean Air, Health and the Environment' highlighting the link between air pollutants and respiratory illnesses. The boards were well received by Carib Cement's staff members who requested brochures and tips on how they could minimize air pollution.
New Greenhouse
In April, JET completed the construction of an organic greenhouse thanks to a donation from Mr. Richard Khouri of Jamaica Hydroponics. Since then, the garden has produced two crops of parsley, dill and basil, some of which were given to members at JET's members' meeting on Mary 20th. The Next crop to be planted will be callaloo and members are welcome to drop by to learn how they can grow their own organic vegetables or even take some home with them. |
