JET's Chief Executive Officer, Diana McCaulay, has been selected by Island Resources Foundation as the 2005 recipient of the Euan McFarlane Award for outstanding Environmental Leadership in the Insular Caribbean.

In previous years the award has been presented to environmentalists in Antigua, Dominica, Barbados, Trinidad, St. Croix, Guadeloupe, St. Kitts and Nevis. The 2005 Award is the first to be given to a recipient from Jamaica.

The Award includes a US$1000 unrestricted grant to the recipient and will be presented at the Annual General Meeting of the Caribbean Conservation Association in Barbados from February 1-3.

Euan McFarlane, before his death in 1983, was actively involved in environmental advocacy throughout the Caribbean. Mr. McFarlane served as a board member and treasurer of the Caribbean Conservation Association. He was also a Trustee of the Island Resources Foundation and a founding member of the St. Croix's Landmarks Association. Funding of the Award was provided by an endowment established by the late Laurence S. Rockefeller, and the program has been administered by Island Resources Foundation since 1987.
