JET benefits from NMIA walkathon

NMlA Airports Limited contributed $300,000 to the Jamaica Environment Trust (JET), one of the beneficiaries of  its fourth annual fund-raising NMIA-Palisadoes Walkathon held on Saturday, November 17th, 2007.

The funds were a contribution towards JET’s annual beach clean-up of the Palisadoes Strip in observance of International Coastal Clean-up Day, celebrated annually on the third Saturday in September.

In handing over the cheque, Mr. Earl Richards, CEO of  NMIA Airports Limited emphasized the importance of maintaining the structure, as well as the beauty of the Palisadoes Strip.

“NMIA is the prime gateway, serving the nation’s capital, as well as the south and east coasts of the island,” Mr. Richards said.

“Our airport continues to make a significant contribution towards the maintenance of our environment, and the development of Kingston as a tourist destination.”

JET has been a recipient of the NMIA-Palisadoes Walkathon fundraising event since its inception four years ago.  This year JET conducted its 14th annual clean-up of the Palisadoes Strip which attracted approximately 300 participants.

Many thanks to the management and staff of NMIA Airports Limited for your support over the years.  We look forward to your continued support.
